Wednesday Guest Post: What ever Happened to the Days of Fancy?

Here is a short thought by Tanner, a great friend of ours. Moriah and I have always admired his daring sense of style and classy ways that every girl tends to find charming.

What ever happened to the days of fancy? The days of old when courtship was such an adventure and every day spent with the other person was inspired and inventive? Every date was what songs and movies are made of. Sometime in the past, life became such a free for all, and drinking and drug induced relationships were a norm. How romantic, stumbling around and doing incredibly dumb things without control over yourself, and then waking up in the morning and remembering NONE of what happened the night before.
Lets re-introduce society to the times ''hopeless romantics" dream of; when boys acted like gentlemen and girls acted like ladies, when going to a formal ball was widely available, and when a single kiss was the definition of "third base". A more respectable time indeed, but somewhat impossible for the 21st century. However, it is very possible to take the ideas of what happened in those days and re-invent them as modern.
A message of hope now goes out to all of those lasting romanticists out there, there are many girls and boys who still enjoy acting as ladies and gentlemen. There is still a special breed who dreams of this sort of thing, in fact I asked a couple of my friends what they would most want to come into modern courtship from decades past. Natalee said, "I like how in the olden times men would kiss woman on the hand, and always open the doors for girls, and help them with their coats." Taylor told me, "I love it when men serenade woman and when they dance with the girl in the kitchen or somewhere that there is no one to impress. As well as a kiss in the rain or in light snow." I love all of those things and would just die for a girl like that. A girl would would gush at all of the classic dates and adventures. A girl who would let me open the door for her, a girl who would take my coat when I offer it, a girl who would enjoy being sung to from her window, and a girl who would dress up just to go to a ball and waltz.
There are still those of us who long for the day when society adopts these practices, but until then, continue dreaming and hoping. After all, its been said many times, "they lived happily ever after".

This picture was completely spontaneous, it was when the end of World War II was announced. Moriah and I have always dreamed of grabbing someone beautiful and just kissing them like this.

Perfect picture to illustrate dancing in the kitchen.
This reminds us of "Fearless" by Taylor Swift.
These hands (the ones not in the gloves with the rose, ha :) are Tanner's.
I am in love with this picture because it shows exactly what Tanner depicts "The days of old when courtship was such an adventure and every day spent with the other person was inspired and inventive". You have to love who you are with! Pictured here and below are Tanner and Sariah.

Sorry for the explosion of pictures, but I believe that pictures capture the beauty of life, and since this is one of every teenagers favorite topics, we think it deserves a little somethin' special. Thank you so much Tanner for bringing to words the desire that we all have: to love and be loved in a beautiful way full of friendship, adventure, spontaneity, and innocence. We fully agree with every word said and get the butterflies and the smiles from your poetic gift of writing. You're a pal!

Love Moriah and Logan, the friendship addicts.
